Note: At this time, there is very little information regarding the Ransom family. It appears from the following record that the immigrant Ransom may have been Robert who came to New England as an indentured servant.
"... a dispute between Thomas Dexter Jr., and his servant Robert Ransom came to trial in 1654, a third party drew a fine for entertaining him the said Ransome, into his house, and otherwise indiscreetly carrying towards him whereby he was abetted in his stubbornness against his said master."
According to the "New England Families" vol. II, Robert Ransom came to America before 1654 and settled in Plymouth. He was a member of the church and was admitted a freeman in 1657, but he rebelled against the bigotry and intolerance of the Puritan government and was often in court in his younger days. He resided at Sandwich for a time and was there in 1654, an apprentice of Thomas Dexter, Jr., who treated him harshly and whom he had before the court. Aftereward he bought his time of his employer. In later life he was quiet and respected, an officer of the town, and a man of property.

Note: There is alot of confusion and erroneous information about Anne Hammond:
SHE WAS NOT THE 2ND WIFE OF REV. JOHN LATHROP/LOTHROP:
"The Great Migration Begins", pg 853, it says "In his record of admissions to Scituate church Rev.
John Lathrop entered on 14 April 1636 "Elizabeth Hammon my sister having a dismission from the church at Watertown" [NEHGR 9:280]; Lothrop's first wife, Hannah House, was sister of Samuel House; since Lothrop refers to her by maiden name but also calls her sister, the admission to Scituate church
may have taken place after the contract of marriage, but before the marriage itself. Various sources give John Lothrop of Scituate a second wife who was a Hammond; this is based on a false deduction from the entry dicussed above.""The name of his first wife, who he m. about 1620; and who d. 1633, is unknown; m. 2d, Feb. 17, 1636-7. Widow Ann ____ Hammond."
SHE IS NOT THE DAUGHTER OF WILLIAM & ELIZABETH [PAINE] HAMMOND OF WATERTOWN:
"The Great Migration Begins", p 852, for William HAMMOND of Watertown, he had a daughter Anne, bp 19 Nov 1609 in Lavenham, England, BUT she died there 7 Jun 1615. Then he had another daughter, Anne, bp 14 Jul 1616, who married 1) Timothy HAWKINS bef. 1637 in Watertown; and 2) Ellis
BARRON 14 Dec 1653 in Watertown.
VR in Watertown shows her marriage to Ellis BARRON and her name is given as "Hanna Hawkins, widow of Timothy Hawkins". The VR for her children by Hawkins give her name as "Hanna", never as Anne. In William HAMMOND's will dated 1 July 1662, he refers to "my daughter House and daughter Barnes [i.e. Barron's] children", which certainly indicates that Anne/Hanna HAMMOND was married to Ellis BARRON in 1662, so she could NOT have been married to Rev. Lathrop at the same time.
Some historical records indicate that Anne Hammond was the granddaughter of Sir William Penn, but this is not proven.

Note: John WOODS, a pin-maker by trade, arrived in America at age 26 in 1635 aboard the 'Hopewell,' and first settled at Salem, MA, but removed to Sudbury, MA by 1638, becoming a proprietor there in 1639. He was admitted freeman on May 10, 1642, and received several Sudbury land grants through 1655. After Marlborough was formed in 1660, John sold his property at Sudbury and relocated to Marlborough, where he had been granted land and served in various town offices.
On Apr. 4, 1664, he deposed that he was about age 54. His will, dated Nov. 26, 1677 and proved Oct. 1, 1678, names his wife Mary, his three sons, daughter Katherine, son-in-law John BELLOWS, and grandchild Hannah LEVINS. The inventory of his estate, on Jul. 19, 1678 at £303.03.07, mentions son-in law Joseph NEWTON.
