Note: During the War of 1812, Parley enlisted on 10 May 1812, for 3 months, from Paris, Oneida Co, NY, where he and his parents were living at the time. He was a private in Capt. Gurdon Caswell's Co., Col. Christopher P. Bellinger's regiment of New York Militia. His brother, Daniel, enlisted in the same company. They fought against the British fleet at Sackett's Harbor in upper New York state [Jefferson Co.]. Parley was honorably discharged on 25 Aug. 1812.
After their marriage in 1815, Parley and Jerusha resided in the town of Jefferson, Schoharie Co, NY for a few years. Sometime before 1824, they moved near his brothers in Keepville, Conneaut Township, Erie Co, Penn., where they remained for over 25 years.
