Death: BEF 25 MAY 1825 Alfred, Allegany Co, NY
Note: "Michael Hoskins" served in the Rev. War under Capt. John Spoor's Co. from 15 Oct 1780 to 1780 [service 4 days] marching north on order of Brig. Gen. Fellows on an alarm at the time Forts Ann and George were taken by the enemy.
In 1800, Micah, Jr. is living in Brookfield, Chenango, NY [later Madison Co.] census with 1 male & 1 female under 10; 1 male & 1 female 26-45 living next door to his brother, Roswell.
In 1808, he was elected Overseer of Highways for Allegany Co, New York
The History of Allegany Co. says "Michael Harkin kept an inn on the farm now owned by Lewis Burdick in Whitney Valley." Sally's obit. also says that they owned an inn for over 25 years.
In 1810, Micah was living next to his brother, David, Nicholas Hazelton, Enos Seward and Lois Haskins [widow of his brother, Roswell].
On 20 Nov 1827, Micah & Sally sold land to Micah J.N. Haskins for $500.
In 1830, Micah Haskins was living next door to David Haskins, Micah J. N. Haskins, Alanson Withey and Tarbell Whitney. Census: [Micah] 60-70; 1 f. 20-30; [wife] 50-60
In 1840, Micah was living next door to David Haskins & Enos Seward.
====================
Micah's will was written 25 Mar 1843 and proven 12 Nov 1845.
He left 40 acres he owned in the town of Almond, Allegany Co., NY described as being bounded on the north by land owned by Alanson Withey [purchased from Micah J. N. Haskins in 1842]; bounded on the east by Allegany and Steuben county line; bounded on the south by land owned by Alanson Whitney [purchased from Micah Haskins in 1838]; and bounded on the west by the road that leads from Almond Village to Bakers Bridge. This land was to be divided in 4 equal shares as follows: the children of his oldest daughter, Sally Ann Whitney [wife of Solomon Whitney] who were both deceased; 2nd daughter, Asenath Thornton; 3rd daughter, Jane Crandall and 4th daughter, Eunice Withey. He left real and personal property to his wife, Sally, along with the right to live in the 2 front rooms of his house.
In a codicile to his will dated 5 July 1843, he left all personal property to his 4 daughters and household furnishings to Eunice.
===================================
Micah's will doesn't refer to a son, Micah J. N. Haskins, but Pamelia Haskins [wife of Micah J.N.], in Aug, 1867, left a share of her estate to her "sister-in-law" Jane Crandall. Probably Micah J. N. Haskins received his portion of his father's estate before his death and Micah J. N. had bought land from his father in 1827. In 1810, the census says he had 1 son age 10-16, which further indicates that Micah J. N. was his son.
