Note: Selectman of Coventry, Conn. and member of the Conn. Gen. Assembly in 1781, who responded to the Lexington Alarm under Capt. Elias Buell of Coventry and served as private and corporal. He thus qualifies as a Rev. soldier and patriot and is listed in the DAR Patriot Index.

Note: Samuel Allen is NOT the brother of Col. Matthew Allyn, but is "is supposed to have come from the west of England, with the Dorchester people, in the ship, Mary & John in 1630". He removed to Conn. in 1635 and settled in Windsor. He was a juryman 5 Mar. 1644 and was a farmer, by occupation. He was the ancestor of Gen. Ethan Allen.

Note: Dr. Joseph Strong was a graduate of Yale College in 1788 and who studied medicine under Dr. Lemuel Hopkins of Hartford, 1788-1790, and Dr. Benjamin Rush at the School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, 1791-92. He served as a military surgeon's mate in the legion of General Anthony Wayne in the Ohio campaign; his commission was signed by President George Washington on 19 March 1793. He became a prominent Philadelphia physician and invented the Axle Tourniquet for the control of bleeding during surgical operations (patent dated 29 January 1801).
