Note: Martin enlisted in the Civil War with Co. B of the 10th Wis. Infantry out of Kekoskee, Wis. on Sep. 14, 1861. During the Battle at Chichamaugua, Georgia, he received a gunshot wound in the right arm below the elbow breaking his arm on Sep. 20, 1863 and was taken prisoner. He was later on parole at a hospital in Annapolis, Maryland. He was discharged on July 27, 1864.
On Sep. 28, 1864, he applied for a military invalid's pension. His application for pension signed in Little Lake, Adams Co., Wis. was witnessed by W.F. Hyatt and Enos Seaward. William Hyatt was the husband of Amelia Seaward [Seward] and daughter of Enos Seaward [Seward], who was also David Haskins' half-brother.
Martin was a farmer and was married to Julia Ann Woodworth in Dec. 1864 in Newport, Columbia Co., Wis.
In 1870 and 1880, they were living in Newport, Columbia Co, Wis. and in 1900 they lived in Kilbourn [now Wis. Dells] in Columbia County. Martin & Julia were married for 30 years but apparently they did not have any children.
Julia died in July of 1894 and Martin remarried Lucinda Jane [Phillips] Cooper in Nov 1894, 5 months later.
Both Martin and Lucinda died in the Wis. Veteran's Home in Waupaca County, Wis.
