Death: ABT 1642 Hartford, CT
Note: Good looking woman with a square oblong face that betokened great capability and force of character. She had a broad open brow, fair hair, and blue eyes. After her husbands death she married Robert Chapman and removed to Saybrook where her eldest brother, Thomas, came to live with them. 1643---removed to Springfield, Mass. She sold her property in Hartford. Took her 5 days to travel, camping out 3 nights in the woods, to reach her new home. She had acquaintances in Springfield whom she knew in England, and here she settled for the remainder of her life. It is said she purchased land one mile square in the south part of town on what is now Main Street and bordering the Connecticut River. One of the streets was named Margaret and another named Bliss,on which was built the Congregational Church. She lived fifty years in America and forty after the death of her husband. She was known for her great intellectual ability.

Death: BEF 28 SEP 1639 Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England
Note: Removed to America---1635. His brother languished in prison where he contracted a fever of which he eventually died. Belonged to the class who were stigmatized as Puritans on account of the purity and simplicity of their forms of worship. Though he was a wealthy landowner, he was persecuted by the civil and religious authorities under the direction of Archbishop Laud, and that he was maltreated, impoverished and imprisoned, and finally ruined in health (as well as financially) by the indignities and hardships forced upon him by the intolerant church party in power. Probably died about the time his sons came to America.
