Doris D. Wise, 90, Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Elkhorn, died Nov. 2, 2004, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center, Elkhorn.
She was born June 30, 1914, in Whitewater to Sherman J. and Lucinda E. (Hill) Duffin. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She married Herbert L. Wise Aug. 12, 1939, in Whitewater. He died March 27, 2001. She taught school for over 23 years with the Delavan Public School System, retiring in 1975.
Wise was past president of the Walworth County Historical Society and member of Elkhorn History Club. She was instrumental in writing a book on the history of Elkhorn and wrote a column in the Elkhorn newspaper on Elkhorn history. She was also a member of the Friends of Old World Wisconsin, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, volunteer at Miller Art Museum, Sturgeon Bay, and volunteered at Dorchester Nursing Home in Sturgeon Bay.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her daughter: Jane Ann Wise; brothers: Laurel and Ellsworth Duffin and sister: Lois Fritschler.
Funeral services were held Nov. 5, 2004, at Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, Elkhorn. Burial will be at Hazel Ridge Cemetery, Elkhorn.
Memorials may be made to the Webster House Museum, Elkhorn.

Robert WILKINSON died in Lincoln, November 18, 1887, of heart disease, in the 78th year of his age. For two weeks preceding his death Mr. WILKINSON was an intense sufferer, and during that time his patience, courage, resignation and faith was truly remarkable, casting the sunshine of Hope over his departure. His dying counsels as a husband and father were full of wisdom and affection.
Mr. WILKINSON was born in Durham, England. He has resided in this country for the last twenty years. He leaves a widow and three children--Mrs. Millard HOSKINS, a daughter by his first wife, and two sons by his widow, who, with them remains upon the homestead. Other relatives reside in the vicinity, except one sister in Durham, England.
The funeral was on Sunday, the 29th, the attendance being such as to manifest sympathy with the bereaved and respect for the dead.
