Note: Delilah R. Koch, age 92, of Portage, died on Sunday, March 14, 2004, at the Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena. Delilah was born on Feb. 17, 1912, in Lewiston Township, WI, the daughter of Claude and Rose (Brickwell) Ellis. She married Elmer Koch on June 24, 1931. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 2001. They farmed in Fairfield Township for many years. Delilah loved gardening and crocheting. She hauled school children in her car to school and worked cleaning motels after she and Elmer moved to town. Delilah always loved to have her family visit. Delilah is survived by her daughters, Helene Giebel, Florida, Ruth (Don) Mell and Rose Schehr, both of Portage; grandchildren, Jerry Clingman, Arizona, Gary Giebel, Wisconsin Dells, Cheryl Giebel (spouse, Bruce), Florida, David Giebel, Wisconsin Dells, Faye (Steve) Hart, Packwaukee, Judy (Ron) Sornson, Roscoe, Ill., Wayne (Karen) Talley, Baraboo, Phyllis (Frank) Grossmann, Portage, Brenda (Dennis) Miller, Ripon, Barry (Debbie) Talley, Plainfield, Georgia (Dan) Kaehne, Baraboo, Tim (Alethea) Talley, Westfield, Jeff (Patty) Schehr, Portage, Steven (Jona) Schehr, Portage, Shelley (Keith) Hess, Oxford, and Sherry Schehr (friend, Stu), Hustisford; 32 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Velma (Harold) Gaffney, Oxford; two brothers, Stanley Ellis, Montello, and Rodger (Mary Ellen) Ellis, Lodi; many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; her brother, Willard Ellis; her sisters, Sarah Morse, Betty Schwellenbach and Josephine Lapp; and three sons-in-law, Duane Giebel, Morris Schehr and Keith Genrick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2004, at ST. JOHN'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH in Portage, with the Rev. Alan Boeck officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Stanley E. Ellis, age 82, of Montello, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at the Montello Care Center. Stanley was born in Lewiston Township on Oct. 2, 1923, the son of Claude and Rose (Brickwell) Ellis. Stanley served his country during World War II in the Army Infantry in Italy. He worked for Rayovac for many years. Stanley is survived by his brother, Rodger (Mary Ellen) Ellis of Poynette; his sister, Velma (Harold) Gaffney of Oxford; his sisters-in-law, Lucille Ellis of Lewiston Township, Marjorie Ellis of Lewiston Township and Mary Lou Bade of Montello; his brother-in-law, Alex Finkenstein Jr. of Portage; his aunt, Aurilla Brickwell of Lewiston Township; other relatives; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna, on April 19, 1982; his sisters, Betty Schwellenbach, Sarah Morse, Delilah Koch, and Josephine Lapp; and his brothers, Willard Ellis and Jon Ellis. He was also preceded by a foster son, Robert Ware. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at ST. JOHN'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Portage, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Alan Boeck officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the PFLANZ MANTEY MENDRALA FUNERAL HOME, Portage, and at ST. JOHN'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at the Briggsville Protestant Cemetery with military graveside services by area veterans.
