Note: William moved from New York to Indian Lands, Marquette Co., Wis. [which later became Jackson Township, Adams Co.] before 1850. After 1870, the family moved to Minn.
His first wife, Cynthia and son, Charles, are most likely buried in the Tanner Cemetery on this original land claim.
He purchased 40 acres on 3 different dates: 15 June 1855, 1 April 1857 and 2 October 1858. These 3 parcels of land were later sold to William and Alexander Rodger. On 20 January 1865, he filed a Bounty Land Warrant for 160 acres as the assignee for Robert Arthur who served in the Civil War.
