Note: Francis (Frank) Besaw, 79, Green Bay, died at home Friday morning, May 13, 2005, surrounded by his family. Born in Green Bay on Aug. 13, 1925, he is the son of the late John and Nellie (VandenHeuvel) Besaw. Frank enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at age 17 to serve his country during World War II. On Feb. 15, 1947, he married the former Bernice Terrien. Frank began his employment at the former Northern Paper and retired from James River as an instrumentation supervisor in 1987. Twenty of those years he spent at Halsey, Ore., working for James River. Frank was a member of St. Willebrord Church, the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus (De Pere Council) and the American Legion.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Bernice; two children, Ellen Greene, De Pere; Patrick Besaw, Green Bay; god children, Patricia Van Ess, Oconto; John Francis Besaw, Florida; Donna Thurlow, De Pere; Cynthia Dixon, Jeffrey Terrien, Lori Kast, Rene Williams, Jennifer Gay, all of Oregon; one brother, Donald (Anna Mae) Besaw, Oregon; three sisters, Marjorie Horkman, Green Bay; Rosemary (Jerry) De Keyser, Dyckesville; Patricia (Maynard) Van Ess, Oconto; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Catherine Besaw, De Pere; Carol Besaw, Green Bay; Elizabeth Amenson, Green Bay; Donald (Marie) Terrien, Green Bay; LeRoy (Clair) Terrien, Oregon; and 54 incredible nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Gerald, Roland and Robert Besaw; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rose and Norris Terrien.
Friends may call at WEST MASON MALCORE Funeral Home, 1530 W. Mason St., from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Parish wake service 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Wednesday visitation will continue at St. Willebrord Church (Rev. Ken De Groot Hall) from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Funeral Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at St. Willebrord Church with Rev. Kenneth De Groot, O.Praem, officiating. Burial in the Field of Honor at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
