Mrs. Frank Vroman To Be Buried This Afternoon
Mrs. Frank (Mary) Vroman passed away Saturday night, July 2, at Ripon. She had been staying with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gustin at Waupon, and had entered the rest home at Ripon for a few days while the Gustins were away.
The former Mary Herrick was born in the town of Deerfield on Sept. 16, 1877. In 1891 she was married to Frank Vroman of the town of Oasis. The couple farmed in Oasis where most of their children were born. They moved to the village of Almond where Mr. Vroman operated a meat market in. They returned to Oasis, then operated a meat market in Plainfield for a number of years, then returned to Almond where Mr. Vroman was in the meat market with George Walters.
Mr. Vroman passed away June 2, 1933. Surviving are three sons and two daughters: Mrs. Wm Kehlmeyer, Plainfield; Reid Vroman, Oshkosh; Roy Vroman, Eagle River; Mrs. Robert Gustin, Waupun; Arden, Plainfield. There were 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. A son, Marion, and a daughter, Mrs. Royden Gustin, and two babies preceded her in death.
Funeral services are scheduled for this Thursday afternoon at 2 pm from the Baptist church with the Rev. Asa Hoskins officiating.

Note: PJ: 5/31/1934: Maple Springs: Mrs. Fannie Fenton Carpenter, a life resident of the Town of Ellery, died at her country home Tuesday at 1:10 o’clock, aged nearly 85 years. She was born July 21, 1849 in the Town of Ellery, a daughter of the late Bicknel D. and Cordelia Fenton, and had always resided in this vicinity. In 1869 Fannie Fenton was married to Orlando H. Carpenter, and to them four daughters were born, Mrs. Martin H. Furlow and Mrs. Lester W. Townsend of Maple Springs, Mrs. Elton Hunt of Buffalo, and Mrs. Ward Cadwell of Dewittville. Mrs. Carpenter is also survived by eight grandchildren: Mrs. Harold Fairbank of Jamestown, Mrs. Orland Underwood of Oklahoma City, Miss Laura Furlow, Miss Lillian Furlow, Mrs. Ernest Smith, Miss Clara Townsend and Emmett Townsend, all of Maple Springs and Ford Cadwell of Dewittville; one niece, Mrs. Lucy Fenton Ross of Jamestown; and two nephews, Louis H. Fenton of Brooklyn and Yates Fenton of New York City. Mr. Carpenter died Dec. 13, 1915. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the Maple Springs Union Church, the Maple Springs Ladies’ Aid Society and Dewittville Grange. Her sweet gentleness endeared her to members of the summer colony as well as the year round residents of this community. Funeral services will be held at the home Friday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery.
