He m. Martha Cogswell, who d. March 29th, 1816. He married widow Susannah [Cogswell] Robertson, sister to his first wife, Jan. 15th, 1819, who survived him. He d. May 28th, 1832, at age 89, and left five children. He sustained town offices, was active to promote the cause of Independence, and was an officer in the cavalry at the capture of Burgoyne.

Richard did not move West, but some of his children did.
