Note: Richard Lee "Breezy" Haskin, 59, of Main Street, Brocton, died July 8, 1986in Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk. He was born August 8, 1926 in Jamestown, the son of Ralph Culver Sr. and Edith A. Lindholm Haskin.A Brocton resident since 1959, he was owner and operator of The Print Shopin Brocton and was a former printer for Northeast Breeze Publishing Co. andFredonia Office Supply and Printing. He was a veteran of World War II,serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater and was a member ofPortland Congregational Church; John W. Dill Post 434, American Legion,Brocton; Lakeshore Lodge, F.& A.M., 851; and Brocton-Portland Civic Assoc.He was a life member of Southwestern Assoc. of Volunteer Firemen. Also, he was an exempt fireman of Brocton Vol. Fire Dept. and a former member ofBuffalo House Printing Craftsman and Brocton-Portland Jaycees.He is survived by his wife the former Dorothy G. Newell whom he married on Oct. 23, 1949 and two sons: Bruce N. Haskin of Nashville, Tenn., and BrianR. Nelson of Jamestown: two brothers, Ralph C. Haskin of Ellery Center andJ. Note: Dorothy G. Haskin, 70, of West Main Street, Brocton, died Monday (Feb. 12,2001) in Brooks Memorial Hospital. She was born April 11, 1930, in Dunkirk, the daughter of Karl and Eleanor Dewey Newell. A Brocton resident since 1959, she was a retired senior social welfare examiner for Chautauqua County, where she was employed from 1969 to 1992. She was a member of the Brocton American Legion Post 434 Ladies Auxiliary, a member and past president of the Chautauqua County American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Mayville, and a member of Chautauqua County Retired Employees Association. She was a member of Chautauqua County 8 and 40 Salon 649, director of the Chautauqua County Ladies Travel Group from 1978 to 1998 and a former member of the Brocton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving grandmother. She is survived by two sons: Bruce N. Haskin of Philadelphia and Brian R.Haskin of Mayville, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Benjamin, Jacob and Patrick Haskin, all of Mayville, and Laura Haskin of Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard "Breezy" Haskin, whom she married Oct. 23, 1949, and who died July 8, 1986; a daughter, Laura Haskin in 1972; and a brother, Roger Newell in 1958. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Morse FuneralHome, Brocton. The Rev. Jacqueline Rhodes will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Brocton Volunteer Fire Department. Note: PJ: 4/28/1975: Maple Springs: Mrs. Mabel Bemus Haskin, 72, of this community died at 4 a.m. today (April 28, 1975) in her home. Mrs. Haskin and her husband, Russell H. Haskin, operated the Whiteside Inn here from the time of their marriage Sept. 17, 1922, until its sale in 1959. A lifetime resident of Bemus Point and Maple Springs, she was born in Bemus Point, July 27, 1902, the daughter of James H. and Minnie B. Scofield Bemus, and was a graduate of Jamestown High School, class of 1919. She was a member of Maple Springs Union Church, where she had served as a trustee, the Maple Springs Ladies Aid, and the Bemus Point Study Club. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lois Ball and Mrs. Jean Raynor of Maple Springs; eight grandchildren: Mrs. Linda Richner of Fort Valley, Ga.; Mrs. Marilyn Carpenter of Chicago, Ill.; Cynthia, William and Louise Ball, Nancy, Daniel and Janet Newberry of Maple Springs; two great-grandchildren, Marissa and Aaron Richner; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Miller of St. Petersburg, Fla. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Roger Winn, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church of Bemus Point, will officiate. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery. Mrs. Haskin requested that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
