Note: Minnie’s funeral held from her home in Maple Springs, NY. w/o Ora A. Haskin. PJ: 6/15/1945: Maple Springs: Mrs. Minnie Holman Haskin, 74, widow of Ora A. Haskin, who had operated the Whiteside Inn here for the past 35 years, died at her home today at 3:30 a.m. She is survived by a son, Russell H. Haskin, and a daughter, Marion H. Rodier, both of Maple Springs; a brother, Frank Holman of Jamestown and three grandchildren. Her husband died Mar 15, 1944. Before her marriage, she had taught school at Stillwater, Ellery Center and Centralia. She was a member of the Maple Springs Union Church and its Ladies Aid Society, and of Sunset Lodge of Rebekah of Bemus Point and the WCTU, and for many years was a member of the board of trustees of the Bemus Point Cemetery Association. She had also served as a director of School Supervisery District, No. 6, of Chautauqua County.

Note: PJ: 4/24/1984: Russell H. Haskin, 81, of Maple Springs, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday (April 23, 1984) in WCA Hospital. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner of White Side Inn, Maple Springs, which he operated from 1922 until its sale in 1959. He was a graduate of Tri State College, Ohio, and attended Maple Springs Union Church. He received the 50-year membership recognition in 1975 from Sylvan Lodge No. 303, Free and Accepted Masons, Sinclairville, where he had been past master. He was also past district deputy grand master of Chautauqua Masonic District in 1956, and an honorary member of Maple Springs Fire Department. Surviving are two daughters: Lois Ball and Jean Raynor of Maple Springs: eight grandchildren: Linda Richner of Bemus Point, Marilyn Lord of Willowbrook, Ill., Cynthia Ball of Fluvanna, William Ball and Janet Newberry of Maple Springs, Louise Ball, Pittsburgh, Pa., Nancy McCanna, Longwood, Fla., and Daniel Newberry, Florence, S.C.; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mabel Bemus, who died April 28, 1975, and a sister, Marion Rodier. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Franklin Laundry, pastor of Maple Springs Union Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery. PJ: 4/27/1984: Those attending the funeral of Mr. Haskin, from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Pittman, Buffalo; Louise Ball, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Marilyn Lord, Willowbrook, Ill.; Daniel Newberry, Florence, S.C. The Sylvan Lodge No. 303 F&AM memorial service was conducted Wednesday evening in Lind Funeral Home, with Carlton Winchester, Master; Walter Brunson, Senior Warden, and Howard Johnson, Junior Warden. Members of Sylvan Lodge and Past District Deputy Masters of the Chautauqua District attended in a group.

Note: PJ: Nov. 5, 1935: Mrs. Celia Pickard Haskin died yesterday morning at the Warren Home for the Aged at the age of 79 years. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Perry E. Brown of Bemus Point; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jennie Pickard of Jamestown and several nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of Elisha and Susan J. Lown Pickard, and was born in Ellery Township on September 20, 1856. Her first husband was Darwin Frederick Rose, who died in 1897 and she was later married to Oliver Haskin of Bemus Point who died in 1928. Mrs. Haskin resided in Bemus Point for many years and was a member of the Bemus Point Methodist Church, had served as president of the Ladies' Aid and the Women's Home Missionary Societies of that church, was a charter member of Sunset Rebekah Lodge and also belonged to the Bemus Point Study Club.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Partridge Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Rose lot in Lakeview Cemetery.
