Note: Frank Haskins was born in Iowa May 1, 1845. He grew up them helping with the farming and dairying. He married Rosetta Quimby, born in Michigan on Dec. 15,1847.
To this union three daughters and five sons were born Zora (Mrs. John Martin); Alice (Mrs. Arthur Jefferson); Viretta (Mrs. Melvin Osborn); Burt; Walter; Lester: Jess and Fred.
In the spring of 1893, the Frank Haskins family came to North Dakota to buy some land and establish a new home. The land they purchased was east of Page, now owned by Marion Conrad. The house and barn built at that time were just recently demolished.
Like many of the early settlers here, they experienced some hard times such as droughts, hauling water for the livestock, prairie fires and hoards of grasshoppers. But there were also good times. With five growing boys, them was lots of excitement. Besides playing baseball, they loved to wrestle and box.
The three oldest boys attended college at the AC in Fargo (now NDSU). Burt received a degree in Veterinary Science. Walter and Lester farmed. Jess was in the military service and later farmed. Fred passed away with diphtheria at the age of 17 years.
Mr. Haskins continued to live on the farm for some time after his wife's death in 1904. He lived with his daughter, Zora, for several years before passing away in 1911,
