Note: RACINE - Emmert V. Nelson, 100, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at Ridgewood Care Center. He was born in Harrisville on June 5, 1904, the son of Nels and Petrea (nee: Peterson) Nelson. Emmert was united in marriage to Irene Mortenson on July 7, 1933, in Rockford, Ill. After many years of service, he retired from Koshen Machine Movers. Emmert was an active member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church and a member of Iron Workers #8. He enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture. Surviving are two sisters, Veda Dahlke of Louisville, Ky. and Grace (Harley) Krueger of Westfield. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene on June 21, 1994; sisters, Anna Brown, Lois Bursack, Margaret Selk, and Everetta Swader. Funeral services will be held at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 2000 West 6th Street, on Saturday, November 13, 2004, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Barrow officiating. Burial will take place at Westfield South Cemetery in Westfield. There will be a visitation at the church on Saturday before services from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Communion Lutheran Church or to one's favorite charity have been suggested.
