Shear, Ernest Wesley (b. 24 OCT 1887, d. 17 MAR 1959)

Shear was born Oct. 24, 1887, in McCook County near Canistota the son of William and Clarinda Shear. He married Ada Vandewall in 1916 and they moved to Hand County in 1919. He made his home with his daughter Mrs. Elmer Diede.

Survivors include his widow; one son, Randall, Sioux City and one daughter, Mrs. Diede; four sisters; Lydia Dunn, Thorp, Wash.; Mable Parker, Sioux Falls; Eunice Parker [Emma], Monmouth, Wash.; Hattie Totten, Brunswick, Neb. and 11 grandchildren.
Death: 17 MAR 1959 Miller, Hand, SD

He practiced medicine for 6 years at Michem Surry, but ignoring the lifestyle of his peers, disgraced himself by falling in love with the gardner's daughter, whom he married aboard ship as they left for America.
