Crandall, Samuel (b. BET 1706 AND 1707, d. 1762)
Death: 1762 Stonington, New London, CT
Note: He was farmer and helped with his sons to build & own the first sawmill, gristmill and ironworks in Sharon, Litchfield, CT. Ebenezer also served in various town offices. The Sharon Historical Society now stands on the lot he bought in 1738 and later sold to Cornelius Hamlin in 1740. In 1743, Ebenezer settled on the western border of "Mudge Pond" a beautiful lake on the outskirts of Sharon. A section of Sharon once was called Mudge Town. At the time of Ebenezer's death in 1758 his widow and living children signed an agreement to settle the estate without administration. What was unusual is that all the children signed their names. This is considered remarkable since many high educated families of the time could not write.
