Note: George Adam Kitzmiller was known as Adam. In 1773, he was on the tax list in Lebanon Township, Lancaster Co, Penn.
On 20 Aug 1777, he was listed as a non-associator, ineligible for service in the Revolutionary War. On 17 Jun 1778, he said "he was a deserter from the British Service and was afraid that if he should be taken he would get no quarter". He was required to pay £30 or go on garrison duty at the next call. He took the oath of allegiance before 26 Mar 1776 and in Lancaster County, June 1777. In 1778, he took the oath of allegiance in Paxtang Township, Lancaster Co, Penn. and was on the tax list in that township in 1779 and 1780. He seems to have been a resident of that township, near Middletown in what became Dauphin County in 1785, until moving to Washington County, MD. In 1783, Adam "Kitsmiller" was on the tax list for Washington Co, MD. He appears in the 1790 census for Washington Co. and in 1800 on the census in Marsh Barren Hundred in Washington Co. In 1803 he was taxed in the Marsh Barren Hundred for 7 horses valued at $56, 3 cattled at $6, 3 sheep & hogs, and personal property at $35. Prior to 1810 Adam moved to Fairfield Co., Ohio probably to be near his sons during later years.

Death: BET 1778 AND 1829
Note: In 1800, the census lists him in the Marsh Barren Hundred, Washington Co, MD.
In 1803 John paid tax on 2 horses, 2 cattle, 2 sheep and hogs and $33 personal property.
In 1810 the census shows him in Jerusulem and/or Upper Antietam Hundred. He is not listed in the 1820 census, but in 1830 and 1840, his son, John, Jr., apparently had his brothers and sisters living with him and in 1840 his mother was living with him also. However, John Sr. appears in the 1840 census also and with a slightly younger woman than Elizabeth Wolford - her age may have been listed wrong.
Elizabeth died 27 Jul 1841 and is buried in Washington Co. Maryland [Book V, p. 190]. Family tradition has it that they lived on a farm located near the old Antietam Iron works, a short distance from the confluence of the Potomac and Antietam Creek. John & Elizabeth had 12 children, many of whom emigrated to Ogle County, Illinois during the middle 1840s.
