Note: Jonathan Gillett came on the "Mary & John" in 1630, at the about the age of 30. He returned to England to marry and then sailed back to New England on the "Recovery of London" from Weymouth, England on 31 Mar. 1635, with his wife.
Some sources says he was accompanied by his brother, Nathan, in 1630, but the latter may have come on the 2nd trip. The two brothers were the sons of Rev. William Gillett, Rector of Chaffcombe, Somerset in 1609.
Jonathan was made a freeman in 1635. On 17 Apr. 1635, he was granted permission to fence in a half acre about his house, leaving sufficient highway and four more acres against Fox Point [Dorchester]. His moved his family to Windsor, Conn. about 1639. There he was granted a four acre lot next to his brother, Nathan. In 1665, he was Constable of Windsor and from 1660, he served on the jury for 17 years. He served in the Pequot war in 1635 and was granted 4 acres in Simsbury, Conn. for his service.
