Note: This Matthew Whipple is very confused. According to the History of Clark & Worth Families, this Matthew, married 1) Jemima Lane of Malden and 2) Johanna Appleton?
According to the Whipple Genealogy which is probably more accurate, he married 1) Joanna Appleton and 2) Martha Dennison Rindge.
[History of Ipswich, Essex & Hamilton] 1739, Jan. 28th. Matthew Whipple, of the Hamlet, d. in his eightieth year. He m. Martha, daughter of John, and granddaughter of General Dennison. She d. Sept. 12th, 1728, in her sixtieth year. Mr. Whipple left children, Matthew, John, William, who was of Kittery in 1730, where his son William was born, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and Brigadier-General at the capture of Burgoyne;--Joseph, settled in the ministry at Hampton Falls, and Martha Hartshorne. He had a malt-house and oat-mill, in which he carried on much business. To his mulatto servant, he gave freedom. He bequeathed his house and lands to Matthew and John. Estate œ3500. He held several offices in the town, was Justice of the Sessions Court, Representative in 1718, 1719, 1729. He was an energetic, useful, and respected townsman.
According to the Whipple Genealogy, this Matthew died about 1663 in childhood. Savage says he married Jemima Lane, but he may be the son of the 2nd John.

Note: Martha Denison was a daughter of John Denison, who was the only son of Major Daniel Denison. Martha Denison married 1] Thomas Wiggin, a grandson of Gov. Thomas Wiggin, also of Gov. Simon Bradstreet. She married, July, 1693, 2] Capt. Jonathan Thing, of Exeter, N. H., who died Oct. 30, 1694. They had one son, Daniel, born May 12, 1694. She then married Major Matthew Whipple. The "wife of Maj. Matthew Whipple, Esq., died Sept. 12, 1728, in ye 60th year of her age."
Capt. Jonathan Thing's first wife was Mary Gilman. They had two sons, Edward and Moses Thing

Note: He was one of Major Denison's subscribers, 1648; had a share and a half in Plum Island, 1664; voter in town affairs, 1679. Captain of the Troop, Feb 1676.
Captain John Whipple came with his father and took the freeman's oath March 30, 1658. He was a maltster in 1665 and in 1673 built at the lower falls a fulling-mill for finishing homespun cloth. He served as a deputy to the General Court in 1674, 1679 and 1683, and numerous times on the juries. John was cornet in 1668, later lieutenant in the Mount Hope Expedition, King Philip's War, and in 1676 was made Captain of the Ipswich Horse Troop, the glory of the militia. This was an aristocratic body accepting as members only those with an estate of œ100 or more.
