And first I direct that my body be decently interred in the Burying Ground at Spring Mills Allegany Co. N.Y. according to the rites and ceremonies of the Baptist Church. And that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my estate and situation in life; and as to such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to intrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows:
First I direct that my debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of the first moneys that shall come into the hands of the Executors, from my portion of my estate real or personal.
Second I direct to be paid by my executors to William Carter(?) of the city of New York; the amount of principal and interest due him from M. J. N. Haskin (deceased) my late husband. Second; I direct that the rest and residue of said estate real and personal (excepting my household goods, wearing apparel and library) be divided pro rata by my said executors among the rest of the lawful creditors of my Husband (deceased). Should by said estate above mentioned exceed the indebtedness of my said husband (deceased) then and in that case I direct that the residue of my real and personal estate, together with my household furniture, wearing apparel and library be equally divided between Henry Thornton my brother; George Thornton my nephew; and Jane Crandall my sister-in-law. Share and share alike; in witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, the twenty eighth day of August A.D. 1807

Note: Tarball Whitney was born in Canaan, Conn. Soon after the death of his father he moved to Poultney, Vt., and was residing there in 1781, for his name is found on the tax list.
Later he moved to Huntington, Luzerne Co., Penn. where he lived near Enos Seward and his family.
He move to Almond, Allegany Co., N. Y. 1800-1808, where he died. His wife was the widow of James Hopkins, who was killed by the Indians at the battle of Wyoming. She left the valley on foot, carrying her child with her in her arms, though soon to give birth to another. There is a tradition in the family that he was named after an Indian chief. This is erroneous - the name Tarball comes from an old family in Groton, Mass., where Tarball's ancestor resided.

Note: Migrated to Almond, Allegany, NY prior to 1806. A blacksmith by trade, he built a gristmill in the southern part of Almond about 1818 or before. The mill was sold to heirs, David Crandall after his death. He also built a distillery nearby and part of the grain brought to the mill was used to manufacture whiskey.
