Winthrop, John (b. 12 JAN 1586/87, d. 26 MAR 1649)
Note: Emigrated in 1630 on Arbella to Boston, Mass.
Freeman: 25 May 1636. Attended Trinity College, Cambridge, England briefly, then studied law at Gray's Inn, and in the 1620s was an attorney at the Court of Wards in London.
He was Governor of Massachusetts Bay, 1630-1633, 1637-1639, 1642-1643, 1646-1648. Deputy Governor, 1636, 1644-1645. He owned 2 hourses in Boston and a large farm along the Mystic River, called Tenhills Farm.
